    Shiva Samhitã is an unparallel and unique Sanskrit text on classical Yoga. It explains the concept of Yoga, its philosophy and practice in detail. Lord Shiva, the expounder of Yoga, has declared this science of Yoga for the welfare of all creatures in all the three worlds. The discourse and teachings in all the five chapters in this text are primarily focused on the philosophy of creation and dissolution of the universe, bondage and liberation, the right knowledge of the reality and the ultimate aim of human life – Self-realization.
    It elaborates the ways of attaining perfections, the Kundalini and its awakening, various forms and techniques of Yoga. It also discusses the human body - the minicosmos as the replica of macro cosmos, the principles and importance of yogic way of life, the importance of the practice of Yogãsana (posture), Prãnãyãma (breathing technique), Mudrã (any movement or posture that affects the psychic flow of energy), Pratyãhãra (withdrawing of senses), Dhãranã (concentration) and Dhyãna (meditation) as the fundamental means to achieve the goal of life – liberation.
